My Days That I Have Left Behind
 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
I was born on 10th. April, 1976 at 4:29am in a nursing home in Calcutta ( a city in the Eastern part of India ). When I was 2yrs. old, my father was transferred to Bombay ( now Mumbai, in the Western part of India ) and we moved to that city. It was there that I began my schooling in St. Joseph's High School. Later I went to Victoria High School in the same city. In 1983, my father was again transferred and we returned back to Calcutta. The most significant incidence of my childhood was my getting admitted in RKMA Vidyalaya, Narendrapur in Jan,1986. It is a residential school built on the ideals of Thakur Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa and Swami Vivekananda and my 8 years of stay there ( from 5th Grade to 12th Grade ) has moulded my life and made me what I am today. After passing my Board Exam in the 12th standard, I have obtained a B.E. in Production Engineering from Jadavpur University and then joined TCS as Assistant Systems Engineer.

My life where it stands now
Initially when I joined TCS last year, I was asked to go to Trivandrum (in the Southern part of India) for undergoing a 2 months training program. It was a wonderful experience where we were slowly making the transition from student life to professional life. The training centre was at Karyavattom (16 km away from the heart of the city) and was set in a picturesque location. I was in the batch T24 and there were around 38 people in the batch other than myself. For 5 days (some weeks also 6 days) we used to have classroom training and on the weekends we used to go out together to visit different places. Jokingly, we used to say that for 5 days in a week TCS stood for Tata Consultancy Services, but in the weekend it only meant Tourism Consultancy Services. After the 2 months training program was over, keeping in line with the spirit of TCS, we got our postings spread all over India. I was posted in Mumbai(the city where I started my schooling), and where I am still working in a project for some domestic clients and would in all probability do so till the end of September 1999.

Hopes, Regrets and Hobbies
Once one of my teachers had said " When a child is born, everybody smiles on hearing the first cry of the child. Lead your life in such a manner that when you die, you can have a smile on your face and every passerby passing by your grave should stop and shed a drop of tear commemorating your good contributions." I just hope that I can do something in my life that will help me make this dream a reality. The only regret that I have in my life is that I cannot sing well. My hobbies include listening to music, especially Bengali music, reading books, watching cricket matches and traveling. There is nothing more attractive to me than listening to Rabindrasangeet (songs by Rabindra Nath Tagore). I do a lot of traveling also and would love to visit all major tourist spots in India by the time I am 30 years of age.
